Terms of Reference
Following the Community Networking Lunch hosted by CVS-Arunwide in September 07, which focused on Volunteering, there was general agreement that a formal Forum on Volunteering would be a useful resource to continue the discussion. CVS-Arunwide agreed to take the idea forward and have received a lot of interest. The first meeting of the Forum took place on 16 October 2007, where the following Terms of Reference were proposed.
Purpose
To share ideas about recruiting and maintaining volunteers in order to sustain a sound base for supporting not for profit organisations
Objectives
- To develop and maintain an effective forum where members are encouraged to take ownership and responsibility
- To provide a forum for sharing information and good practice
- To facilitate development of new and improved recruitment mechanisms where necessary
Process
- The forum will meet at regular intervals to be agreed by the membership
- Members will take the lead in topics for discussion and developing agreed actions
- CVS-Arunwide will be responsible for administration and support of the forum Following each meeting all members will be informed about important outcomes
Membership
- Membership is open to any individual or organisation whose work involves or is related to the use of volunteers
- All members will be asked to confirm in writing their expression of interest in joining the Forum
Review
The Terms of Reference will be reviewed annually
A key outcome of the first meeting was to agree to hold an event to celebrate Volunteering and the next meeting will address the logistics. We are anxious to encourage wide membership of the Forum so if you would like to join please contact Sharon Westcott, 01243 840305 or alternatively just come along on the day.
The meeting will be held at The Oystercatcher, Yapton Road, Climping (just off the A259 Littlehampton to Bognor Regis road) on Monday 19 November between 12.15 and 2pm.
